Cost pressure is rising, skilled staff are scarce, and requirements around data handling and evidence are increasing. This development is forcing mid-sized firms to simplify their application landscape rather than keep extending it.

Successful rollouts therefore follow a different logic than they did a few years ago. The standard is no longer bent to fit the company; instead the company aligns its workflows with the standard. Extensions stay outside the core so that half-yearly updates pass through without rework. The effect: a considerable share of the budget moves from programming into process work, training and data quality.

That is not a sacrifice but a shift to the right place. What sets a company apart is rarely its posting routines. It is the way it runs its customers and its production.
