The success of an ERP rollout is rarely decided by the range of functions, but by daily access. Anyone who has to work through several logins and interfaces each morning will end up using the workaround in a spreadsheet.

This is exactly where a shared, role-based point of entry comes in. Applications from the ERP, from analytics and from third-party systems appear in one interface, filtered by task and authorisation. A service team sees orders and asset conditions, accounting sees open items and closing tasks. Unlike a classic home screen tailored to a single system, this approach joins several systems into one working environment, on mobile devices too.

Our experience with mid-sized firms: the effort for this entry point is small, its effect on acceptance is large. It therefore belongs in the rollout, not in a later expansion stage.
